WALTER PADAO
(b. 1965, Darmstadt | Germany)
studied painting from 1988 to 1993, first with Manfred Bluth, later with Martin Kippenberger at the Art Academy Kassel (D). From 1991 to 1992 he received a one-year scholarship and attended the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Bologna (Italy). 1993-1994 he graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg (D) with Prof. Johannes Grützke as a master student. After a year in Berlin, he lives and works in Dusseldorf until today.
Padao stands in the tradition of artistic exploration of dynamic body-space relationships in painting. Related to the spirit of cubism and futurism, where movement and time are also incorporated into the image, he uses aspects of current visual techniques (video stills, bullet time effect, etc.) in his painting. The pictures furthermore have a surreal character - related to inebriation and dream: visual traces of remembrance, fields of association - shaped by the impulse and the expressive moment.
