Winners of Combat Prize 2015

Saturday July 25 the marvellous and golden Sala degli Specchi of Museo Giovanni Fattori of Livorno saw the conclusion of the sixth edition of COMBAT PRIZE, with the proclamation of this year’s winners. The jury, composed by Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Fabio Cavallucci, Francesca Baboni, Andrea Bruciati, Stefano Taddei and Roberta Valtorta chose Egle Karpaviciute as the winner of the Painting section for her artwork "Story for the Painting I" with the following motivation: for the capability of creating a pictorial image whose subjects are the artistic domain and the history of painting, manifesting the conceptual value of the painting of our times.
Special jury mention for the second placed Nataly Maier.

For the Photography section the jury acclaimed Rachele Maistrello as the winner with her artwork “Senza Titolo for having solved the theme of relationships among people and between people and everyday life context, working on the visual coincidence of three-dimensional space and image from surface, nearly at the borders of optical illusion, which becomes the opportunity to discuss the possibility of representing human relations.
Special jury mention for Lamberto Teotino.

For the Graphic arts category Michael Hirschbichler has been selected with his "Slaughterhouse Complex", for his competence in renovating an ancient technique, which allows the artist to produce metaphors of our contemporaneity, suggesting pictures between sophisticated urban plannings and electronic system devices.
Special jury mention to the ex aequo second placed Samuel Grajfoner and Vincenzo Punzo.

The Sculpture and Installation prize went to the artwork Samuele Cherubini with “Pimp” because of his skill in reviewing the way in which installative practice is intended, offering the key to an ironic and never superficial interpretation and giving visitors the possibility to dip into a playful and surreal dimension, where the emotivity plays an always involving role.
Special mention of the jury to Luca Rossi, second placed.

For the Video category the jury assigned the prize to Daniel Nicolae Djamo with his artwork “Territorial marking”. Here are the motivations: for having created a clear and essential narration from the visual perspective, with a particular articulation of the dialogue, which - not without irony -  faces the interlaced matters of social, political, religious identity and personal biography, starting from two important and symbolical elements as the flag and the landscape.
Special jury mention for Roberto Fassone.

Regarding the Special Prizes, that offer three artist residences in Berlin, Florence and Livorno, they have been respectively assigned to:

  • - Guglielmo Castelli in Berlin, because of his ability of modulating and reinterpreting the human figure and its dynamics through a pictorial way as dense as compact, which reveals a careful research characterized by an international eye and rooted in Italian painting tradition.
  • - Shirin Salehi in Florence, for the calligraphic precision used to express an interpretative thought with an etched graphic sign, slightly elegant and exquisitely refined.
  • - Alessio Zemoz in Livorno, for the attention to social subjects and his multidisciplinary approach, together with the desire to combine the vision with the perception, building a representative and original image, off the beaten track .

Finally, the popular jury prize went to Juan Eugenio Ochoa with his painting “Lirica-Analitica”.
