Premio Combat

Year 87’. Graduate School of Art in Opole, now a student of the Institute of Art at the University of Opole (specialty: painting in the studio of prof. Łucja Bagińska). Series of four diploma portraits Perform was exhibited at the Gallery of Modern Art in Opole in 2011. Participated in several editions of Shelter Art – cyclical, interdisciplinary student exhibition. He paints in oils, which secrets explores of more than 3 years. At the exhibition Sport in the gallery Caffeine presents mainly the latest images from the past few months, where the heroes are friends of the artist. Their pictures refer to personal history and various situations. It is private set of minutes and moments, a series of stop frame memories.

 “In my work I am most interested in the moment. Striking a brush, a split second in between, what is timeless and what destroyed, what is gained and what is lost forever. Looking at actions at the border of control, while painting guided by instinct, trying to reveal what is hidden. The content of my paintings is what surrounds me, the topics are only a catalyst for the process of creation. Confronting the canvas, the only thing which is important is mixing colors. Significant for me is to leave a piece of myself on any of these images, the piece I will not be able to retrieve.

 The exhibitions’s title refers to the essence of my approach to painting. Each of the paintings is a history of stage training, checking myself, a personal record. I believe the fight brings highest satisfaction. On the podium we step just for a moment.”
