Descrizione Opera / Biografia


Paula Anta was born in Madrid in 1977. She currently lives and works between Madrid and Paris. She studied Piano and Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid where she later obtained the Degree.
Her photographic work has been focused in the relationship between humans and nature from the point of view of division, identification, history and artificiality. Her work has been exhibited at the Contemporary Museum of Madrid and Barcelona, in the San Fernando Academy, in Matadero or in the Royal Botanic Garden of Madrid. But also in other European countries, specially in Germany where she has worked with the curator Danièle Perrier, director of Balmoral Castle, Prof. Peter Weiermair, director of the Museum of Bologna and Prof. Dr. Felix Semmelroth, Deputy Mayor in charge of Culture of the City of Frankfurt, among others.
Her previous works have been shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla la Mancha as the Centre de Jeune Creation, Paris.
She normally works with Blanca Soto Gallery in Madrid and Heike Strelow Gallery in Frankfurt am Main. Also she has sometimes collaborated with Fucares Gallery (Foro Sur, Madrid), SKL Gallery (‘Palma Photo’11, Palma de Mallorca) and Ferran Cano (Palma de Mallorca).
Part of her work also focuses on the relationship between sound and space, resulting in a sound and video work has been seen at the Gallery Blanca Soto, DIVA Digital & Video Art Fair New York or in the Auditorio Nacional of Madrid.
In the last three years she has exhibit her work in different art fairs like Arco, ArteBa, Photoespaña, Estampa or the Loop Art Fair.
She also has several awards and prices like the Photography Prize of the AENA Foundation, the award for creation and diffusion of Contemporary Art, INICIARTE of the Autonomous government of Andalusia, the award for the protect Pillpa in Peru, of the Autonomous government of Madrid and she was finalist in the Photography Award El Cultural.
Last year she won the MAEC-AECID Fellowship of the Spanish Academy in Rome and currently she is living and working in the Colegio de España in Paris with the FormARTE Fellowship of the Minestry of Education, Culture and Sport.
