Being a gay artist born and raised in a Jehovah’s Witness family, Yannick has developed obsessions for sexualities, destruction and love. Identifying as a digital native, Lambelet approaches the concept of painting with digital layers of construction. His painting grounded in post-Internet art theory constantly wander between reality and virtuality, with humour and sarcasm. Mixing the Apocalypse (where zombies become a metaphor for humankind and also a subject to experiment the gesture of painting) with the queer culture (where fetichism reflects the beauty of liberty and empowerment) and video games references, Lambelet Lambelet creates a frustrating feeling of disorientation becoming a metaphor to speak about our current physical and emotional estrangement in order to generate a plurality of associations and meanings.
