Descrizione Opera / Biografia

”Surrender to the universe” is my philosophy.
I try to surrender my process to nature as much as possible because humans are too small compared to it.

I brought a large piece of canvas to Kanai Kogei, the natural dyeing studio in Amami-Oshima, Japan. Unexpectedly, I put a canvas on the freshly boiled Rhaphiolepis umbellata dye that was in the studio and left it in a mud field. A month later, I visited Amami-Oshima again and washed away mud in the sea and river of Amami-Oshima. The canvas that left the process to Amami-Oshima showed a new expression.
