ARTWORK
Every human being shares the event of growing and unfolding inside another body.
My project revolves around the different layers composing motherhood.
I talk with different women about their relationship to procreation, birth and loss: mothers, women that really wanted to be mothers, women who experienced miscarriage, women who had abortions.
I collect their anecdotes and memories.
How does the social construction of motherhood relate to the visceral experience of pregnancy, and how does this relate to loss?
The images are connected to the women’s specific stories and to the concept of “loss” and “presence”.
Every Feeling I refers to Giselle's story of searching, miscarriage and longing for a child.
“Some parents wait much longer than 9 months for their child”, Giselle told me.
