American filmmaker Vanessa Ly started making films in 1997 in New York after studying literature. Self-taught in film, she started showing her experimental films at Jonas Mekas’ Anthology Film Archives theater in the East Village. She quickly gained recognition and awards at the international film festivals with fictional pieces. She is currently working on a 1st feature film while continuing her non-narrative film work.
