The paintings of Linda-Marie Pattyn are powerful and delicate at the same time, realistic and ethereal, dreamy and evocative, figurative and highly abstract.To her, abstracting means starting from a clearly figurative subject, which, by painting over and applying layers of paint - or call it a grey-white haze, brings the essence of the image to the surface, to eventually only conserve the subtle rhythm of the original shape. Charcoal, pastel, acrylic, oil and lime paint act as agents of what first appears as realistic and afterwards is wrapped in veils of sensibility and suggestive power. Born 1952 Bruges - Belgium.Studies : Plastic Art at RHTI and final degree painting at Academie Bruges.
