Descrizione Opera / Biografia

I’m an italian artist and activist now based in Scotland. My focus is on the relationship between art and political and social upheaval, with a particular reference to human rights. I always work with themes such as democracy, justice, history and memory.
I graduated with honors in Painting and Visual Arts with a dissertation about disobedience and resistance in art and since then I’ve explored more and more the relationship between activism and art.
For RITRATTO ANARCHICO D’ITALIA I’ve created a series of postcards about the italian anarchism starting from the italian toponymy.
Recent group exhibitions include: (upcoming) Heroica, territorio de resistencia (Santiago, Chile); Premio Nazionale delle Arti ed. 2012-2013 (Bari, Italy); Primavera negra (Santiago, Chile), L’età dell’utile (Venezia, Italy); Dalla memoria alla materia (Milano, Italy); Academy Awards: Barbarie (Milano, Italy) and Premio Nazionale delle Arti ed. 2010-2011 (Milano, Italy). I’ve been selected for the Many Studios Graduate Residency Programme 2013-2014 (Glasgow, Scotland), Fondazione Spinola Banna per l’arte (Torino, Italy), Raghurajpur International Art/Culture Exchange 2012 (Raghurajpur, India) and I’ve been shortlisted for Premio Celeste 2013 (Napoli, Italy).
