The western perception of beauty is both consumed and dictated to by predominantly the sense of sight. As we negate the bombardment of images, there is a tension between what is real and what is fabricated, given that the image is a mere representation of beauty. In this tension lie questions about why the image of beauty is so seductive, and yet ultimately unable to hold your gaze or attention forever. Due to the nature in which these images are produced, which is for constant consumption, the viewer loses their relationship with the image. In attempting to challenge this process, these images are distorted, manipulated and recreated which shifts the focus from the subject being the visual representations of beauty to the image object itself. In doing so, the relationship between the viewer and the image is re-established.
