The Brazilian artist Rodrigo Andrian was born in Rio de Janeiro and lives in Petrópolis (the only imperial city in Latin America). He was graduated in Art History and post-graduate degree in Management and Conservation of Cultural Property.His contemporary figurative artwork emerges between sinuous and straight lines, building organic and geometric shapes talk through that color. The linear motion imagery that involves the forms and alternating between soft and vibrant colors of the composition contribute to the feeling of motion pictures.In the painting ”Gondolier and Jangadeira”, the man driving a gondola is a portrait of Italian romanticism. He crosses a bridge over the canal in Venice, northern Italy, for a fictional encounter with a ’jangadeira’, in the northern region of Brazil. The woman driving the raft (jangadeira) is a portrait of Brazilian realism, she takes a fish knife to defend herselves and a rosary to pray.
