Born in 1989 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Graduated from the University of Art and Design, Cluj-Napoca, department of Painting with Bachelor Degree in 2011 and Master Degree in 2013. Undertaken Erasmus Scholarship at Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, Italy, in the summer semester of 2009-2010 academic year and internship at Tanya Leighton Garllery, Berlin, from October 2012 until January 2013.
Oana Pop’s works reflect a commentary of today’s consumerist/capitalist society and the standardization that is subjected to. A concept outlined in almost every painting is the fundamental degradation that the characters depicted go through, a process caused by the compulsive need of consuming and achieving a standard set by a capitalist judgement.
