Descrizione Opera / Biografia
I am a 15 year old student currently in my first year in high school at Don Mills Collegiate Institute in the ”Cyber Arts” program. I started oil painting around the age of 12, and found interest in oil painting. Art to me is not only a visual display, but also an important message in life. Oil paint is one of the best mediums. It enables the artist to create smooth paintings for a calm feeling in the painting. Oil paint also allows artists to create relevant moods by using the technique called, glazing. However, I did not discover glazing back when I painted these paintings, which was about a year ago. Surrealism is an excellent style for holding the artist’s intentional message. All of these paintings have a message towards our society today, and how the society is being negatively influenced. I’ve been using surrealism for about two years now, but I moved onto traditional painting, symbolism and expressionism combined. Envious Rose was one of my middle school projects, which was finished around 2012-2013. This project required us to research a huge situation in our society. The first topic that came to my mind was the harm done to our environment. Companies would cause great harm to our environment just for the wealth and pleasure without knowing the consequence. So I decided to create this painting.
