Descrizione Opera / Biografia

First of its kind, The Flow of Life is a permanent installation of 9.5 metres made 100% with waste, which required about 8,000 screw caps and just as many ring pulls. It is a commission for the chapel of Ada Lovelace CoE school, which is open to all faiths. Most of the material was indeed collected by the students, parents and staff of the school, which made it all the more meaningful.
The left side is devoted to self reflection, meditation and floor space for rugs. As such, it is primarily based on calm, introspective colours, such as blues and greens. As we move towards the right, we are coming closer to the benches and the altar, where vibrant reds and gold triumph to recall purity and light. As a finishing touch, 3 accents of gold to represent the holy trinity, and finally gold as a main hue at the end, to add a frame of warm light around the pulpit.
The Flow of Life is a depiction of what all faiths have in common: both the belief that life does not end with death but merely flows into a different stage, and the present moment, when we are indeed all sharing the miracle of life. Finally, it is a celebration of all our diversities, which just like hues and shades, once together, create the rich canvas of life.
As an Eco-artivist, ‘Rubbish artist’ and mosaicist I pioneer sustainable art by creating my artworks entirely out of waste.

Torn between optimism and surrender, I am haunted by the idea of mankind’s imminent self-destruction. Yet I believe in a future for humanity of resourceful innovation through systemic re-thinking. Every tessera I create is in itself a beacon of hope and a protest against our disposable lifestyle: from waste to wonder.

Gesamtkunstwerk, I am a vegan raising vegans, using 100% renewable energy, wearing second-hand clothes, plastic-free where possible, growing a vegetable+wildlife garden, not flying for the past 4 years, (…).
Ex-City solicitor, I graduated w/distinction at the London School of Mosaic, where I also lectured Fabrication. Internationally I exhibited in 100+ venues, was published in 60+ articles/textbooks, and won 2 dozen+ awards.
I am the founder of Payment in Kind(ness)© (accepting eco-friendly actions as payment toward my artwork) and of ArtforTrash© (using the clients’ own waste to create artwork for residential, institutional and corporate settings).
I run pro bono projects on eco-awareness and sustainability (e.g. Living Streets, Salon Sustainability, Fernando Montaño, the London International Gallery of Children’s Art (LIGCA), and Camden Clean Air Initiative on Earthfest 2024.
I am currently collaborating w/ the Institute of Marine Sciences in Venice on Project Maelstrom, making a permanent installation in loco during the Venice Boat show 2024 by using both the waste from their labs and that recovered from the sea.
