ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
This artwork is dedicated to the Italian author Goliarda Sapienza. This woman wrote the book ”The Art of Joy” which she did not manage to get published during her lifetime. It was rejected everywhere because the novel was considered far too avant- garde and scandalous in its presentation of the woman and the pitfalls that her heroine Modesta meets. In this work, I have presented The Author and her Heroine as being double of each other, in the manner of playing cards (queen of hearts/tile or queen of spades/clover), we do not know exactly who is one and who is the other. They seem interchangeable, twinned, in an inseparable continuum.
BIOGRAPHY
My name is Sève Favre and I’m a visual Artist based near Lausanne.
Originally from the french part of Switzerland, I was introduced to arts from a young age but decided to follow academic study first Art History at University. I supplemented my literature degree with a secondary school teaching, which enabled me to teach art history and the visual arts in high school during fourteen years. For two years, I was in charge oft he curation of the Olsommer museum, and designed several exhibitions during my stay at the institution.
At the same time, I continued my education by taking several seminars and workshops in the visual arts, notably at the Ceruleum school of art in Lausanne.
In 2005, I created my first modular artwork and during several years I maintained both careers simultaneously, teaching and private commission for artworks.
Today I completely devote to my art pratice and promotion. I have exhibited in Switzerland and abroad. Last year, I finished a solo exhibition in a museum in Fribourg, Switzerland and I was nominated by Arte Laguna Prize in installation and sculpture section for «Être au pied du mur»
