Descrizione Opera / Biografia
Delia is created through a diverse mix of processes - I take an interdisciplinary approach to exploring media - photography, phone apps, algorithms, AI, and traditional drawing and painting processes. As a post-internet artist, I establish relationships with images and create objects inspired by the infinitely variable visual culture of the web and create art influenced by personal narratives to explore the links between our digital culture, identity, gender, and social activism.
I draw and paint digitally, mixing images, and reimaging the intent, and discovering a new language. My practice engages the past, present, and future, and the process inspires meditations on color, form, and the act of art-making itself. I aim to create a vibration, a response, that moves the heart to feel.
These processes link interdisciplinary practices with an evolving dialog. The results are fictional portraits that connect with our collective identities and experiences and push the edges of our definition of beauty.
Because of my graphic design background, I am prone to print - to have a physical form of the work I make. I investigate printing processes using archival inks on archival substrates and hand-finishing with analog media; I don’t print editions of the same image. I print one-of-a-kinds –explorations of mixed media. Lately, I experiment with printing on crystalline coated polymer illuminated by LED lightboxes; Augmented Reality, animation, experimental video, and projection.
