Artwork description / Biography

For this piece ” FRAGILE ” its about taking a moment to honour your own fragility. We are all vulnerable and fragile right now ( well I certainly am ) and so I wanted to create art that connects the viewers back to a memory, a thought, a feeling or even a fantasy – even just for one moment. A moment is all I wish to make make, one tiny moment can change our entire energy and remind us that we are human.
Visual Artist and Designer, Meg Gallagher has built a prominent reputation in the past decade as a creative. Having worked for some of the best names in the fashion industry and more recently returning to painting as her chosen medium, she has accumulated a following of collectors worldwide.
After being named as One to Watch by Vogue Italia and being awarded a scholarship to study at Milan’s Europeo Instituto de Design, Meg’s design career was kickstarted and she soon found herself in top roles at brands such as; Collette Dinnigan, Camilla and Marc, and Ksubi. It has been during her time at Ksubi where Meg cultivated her skills in becoming an expert in denim design, with her pieces seen on the likes of Gigi Hadid, Playboi Carti, Hailey Bieber and Jared Leto, and her cachet further strengthened by collaborations withTravis Scott, Kendal Jenner, and KITH .
Meg develops her art practice of contemporary nudes in her home studio in Sydney’s South, which borders the national park. Once again surrounded by nature, this inspiration is clearly evident in her work, with her layered colour palette reflecting the nearby bush and her mid-century modern home. While her use of denim as a canvas and the textured treatments she applies speaks to her time in the fashion industry. With a background in dance, Gallagher’s exploration into the female form started young. Since becoming a mother, Meg has become significantly more in touch with the female form. Painting nudes is a vehicle for her to celebrate how she sees women’s sensuality and sexual energy as their biggest strength.
It’s through the responses to her nudes and collaborations on commissions that Meg finds what she does so rewarding. Connecting with un seemingly like-minded individuals is what continues to inspire her on a regular basis.
