Artist born in Valencia, Spain 1969. Currently, based in Madrid. At the beginning of my career, in the 80’s winning local and national awards. But also, nonconformist with the result of my work, I needed time for study and reflection. After this, I considered innovating or retiring my job and my career. During this time, digital techniques emerge in our lives and I try to use them to innovate. I was teaching during this reboot time, and decided to start over and share my work innovating. Always colourful and figurative.
Founder of “Fleeting Gallery” in 2018, a false exhibition of my work using basic digital social media tools and only for a few hours. If you are there, you can see my paints, like the spurious shapes of the clouds.
That is why I consider my work in two settings, one of which: As a retro-contemporary vision of everyday situations, retro-fauvist and retro-impressionist with small touches almost pointillist and expressionist been contemporary.
How to innovate today? I decided to take into account everyday situations looking at them with a very retro prism, like a retro-contemporary style. Midnight is the expression of a clear example of a current situation, a party with current people with a retro vision, you can see my work on Instagram too at @josemalasaña.
The other scenario: as explained before, rediscovering artistic techniques in digital age, I like to experiment with tools of telephones, a digital pop-up-art that uses only social media tools. The key is to transform images or create frames with digital solid colors. The particular feature is that the art is displayed on a full screen size iPhone and the final sensation is a pictorial work done with digital tints. In 2020, during the pandemic, after #artistsupportledge, I will restart my presence at meetings and awards.
