In my current works I am interested in exploring queerness and humor. Madam Mondrian is a painting that reflects the traditionalism of modern painting and, by the other hand, it attempts to the fact that artworks can be transformed into commercial products and these products can then be “transformed” into artworks again.
Duane Bahia Benatti was born in Sao Lourenço, Brazil in 1983. He/they live and work in Leipzig, Germany.
Duane holds a Visual Arts MFA Degree from Academy of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein and a Visual Arts graduation degree from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado. Duane received awards and scholarships in Argentina and Brazil. His/their works were shown at National Museum of Slovenia and Biennial de Cerveira,
Portugal and are part of Museo de Arte Contemporanea de la Boca’s (Buenos Aires) and Enter Art Foundaion’s (Berlin) art collections.
