Artworks taken from my series ”Resistance Omega”
About Resistance Omega
Resistance is a call to overcome our weaknesses and to resist materialism, avarice and the constant desire for more. Resistance also makes a stand against consumerism within an exponentially growing monetary system, where our identities are only defined by our possessions and where humans destroy their own existence through the exploitation of nature.
Omega is a symbol for ‘the end’, but from every ending comes a new beginning. It is supposed to represent the end of greed and thirst for power to enable a new start.
Resistance Omega builds upon Georg Pummer’s previous work Evolution Alpha – Omega. The surrealistic, and often provocative, artworks in this series address the conflict between humans and nature and explore possible consequences of pollution and exploitation of natural resources.
Artwork description: We Carry the Heart:
Over generations they believed the were called upon to bring forth internal earth to its surface. With the encompassing creation of structure after structure on the planet, they suffocated the thin skin of their home. The bounty disappeared, the streams spilled over their contain, the oceans morphed into toxic stew, the animals and Man died. They had forgotten that when the circulation of nature is disrupted, its duration of heartbeat is fleeting and beating stops-theirs as well as their earths.
Biography:
Born in Austria in 1983, Georg Pummer grew up with a younger sister in a small village close to Vienna. He discovered his love for art and aptitude for painting at a very young age. Certified car mechanic by occupation, he used every opportunity in his spare time to autodidactically train and further his skills as a painter and artist. In his paintings he likes to explore surrealist imagery and symbolism. His medium of choice is acrylic. Viewers are often captivated by the attention to detail and disconcerting atmosphere of his work. Georg Pummer is married and has a little daughter.
My style ranges from modern abstractionisms to figurative paintings, incorporating features of mystic symbolism. Ever since childhood, I have been drawn to surrealist imagery. Influenced by this early fascination, I developed my own visual language, which I entitled ‘Endzeit-Surrealismus’ (‘End Time – Surrealism’). My work examines the concept of human apocalypse, transporting the viewer into a world that is the result of human misconduct and a wasteful use of natural resources. In particular, the series ”Evolution Alpha – Omega” and ”Resistance Omega” explores possible consequences of human-caused destruction, provoked by an excessive desire to accumulate material goods and wealth, i.e. greed. Through my paintings, I strive to give an impulse to rethink our behavior and to consider how our actions affect our environment and world we live in.
My exhibitions are national and international: Vienna, Rom, New York, Los Angeles, Busan, Shanghai
