Descrizione Opera / Biografia
4460 belongs to a body of work called “Fragments of (Im)possibility” that explores the boundaries of the moving image, its intangibility and its relation with the process of creation of mental images. This work is the result of the transformation of the moving image into matter, transgressing the limits of its two-dimensionality and constant development. By extracting one frame of a video, the image spreads out in the space, expanding, materialising, acquiring physicality and tangibility, contradicting its nature, its constant movement.
Many of the artistic projects of Izaskum Escandón have approached topics that explore the areas of psychology, perception, memory and all the complex processes of the human mind that remain unknown territory. Her works investigate the way in which we perceive reality and the way in which we re-interpret it. She is also interested in the use of new technologies and the relation that we establish with science and technology.
In 2001, she obtained a degree in Mixed Media Art at Westminster University in London. In 2006, she explored the Arts further, mastering in Theory and Practice of Contemporary Art at Universidad Complutense. Madrid
