Premio Combat Prize

DESCRIPTION OF AN ARTWORK:
Series „Little destruction project” is in fact a collection of portraits. The series tries to reflect the emotional state of an author in specific situations which took place between year 2011-12 when she came back from emigration to her home country. The situations that occurred often resulted in frustration, misunderstandings sometimes disappointment. Painting “Nike” refers to the 2nd-century BC marble sculpture of the Greek goddess Nike of Samothrace (The Winged Victory of Samothrace) which lacks some parts, like hands or head. Even thought the sculpture itself honours the Goddess of victory.
BIOGRAPHY:
Daria Pietryka was born in Wroclaw in year 1983. She first studied at The Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland (2002-07). In 2007 she moved to Dublin, Ireland where she worked and continued studies at the University College Dublin, at School of Architecture. In 2011 she came back to Wroclaw where she works as an architect and an artist.
