Premio Combat Prize

Valentina was born in London in 1987, but she grew up in Italy. In 2010 she completed her BA degree in Fine Arts (Printmaking) at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, Italy, and was awarded the second prize in the National Award for Young Engravers – Gino Carrera - 2nd Edition, 2009. In September 2012 she exhibited her work at the Postgraduate Show at Camberwell College of Arts, London in completion of her MA degree in Printmaking, for which she also received the East London Printmakers Prize, awarded by the East London Printmakers studio. Her work has been exhibited at the Mall Galleries as part of Bite: Artists making prints and was pre-selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2013.
As an understanding and experiment with etching, Valentina’s practice has been focused on a dialogue with an intangible past. She likes to describe her postcard size images as pocket size memories. Jigsaw compositions made of a singular piece where the motif of an essentialised anatomical heart presents itself as a compulsion.
