Descrizione Opera / Biografia

Pierrick Gaumé is a French photographer, graphic artist and industrial designer born in 1971. After graduating from the Paris-based ENSCI design college in 1995, he worked as an in-house or freelance industrial designer, graphic artist or art director for various corporations and design offices in France, and in the Middle East from 2000 to 2004.
Pierrick Gaumé’s artwork has been exhibited and collected since 1994. His urban-themed collages, drawings and photographs are now part of many private collections in the Middle East, in Europe and in North America.
After returning to France in 2005, Pierrick Gaumé traveled across Italy and across North America to develop a new photography concept that he named Automorphoses, after the automobiles he uses as mirrors that distort cityscapes whose reflection closeups he captures to challenge and enlighten people’s perception of reality. In 2009, he started a series of photography exhibits in France and in the USA that were entirely dedicated to this approach, including one hosted by Peugeot Automobiles’ World Headquarters in Paris in March 2013. In the wake of this event, new encounters and travels are taking shape.
