Descrizione Opera / Biografia
My research project explores new ways of seeing through designing a medium, Cubic Film, by which I mean a medium that integrates the structure of time and space, and film that disrupts recorded time and spatial relationships, to bridge the gap between craft and technology. The process involves mathematic decision, and also consideration of the creators’ own movement. This is where serendipity arises. In my project, the spectator and audience becomes a creative participant, actively involved in shaping the outcome of the work. When craft meet technology, a digital process works together with a human-made action, and the whole process become an approach, and an attitude, makes the visible become visible in new ways./ Yen-Ting Cho is from Taiwan. He is currently a PhD candidate in Innovation Design Engineering (IDE) at the Royal College of Art (RCA). He has a Master’s degree (distinction) from the Graduate School of Design (GSD) at Harvard University. He was awarded Film Study Center Harvard Fellowships for three years and his animation practice has received awards internationally. He worked at INVIVIA and designed interactions for Microsoft Surface, GSD, and the Guggenheim Museum, New York. He is a visiting tutor in IDE at the RCA and conducting his doctoral research on Cubic Film - a new digital moving image experience.
